Monterey County Children’s Health Outreach for Insurance, Care and Enrollment (MC-CHOICE) Program is committed to promote outreach, enrollment, retention, and utilization of Healthy Families and Medi-Cal program benefits for families throughout Monterey County.

MC-CHOICE Wins National Award

MC-CHOICE was awarded the 2008 Food Stamp Hunger Champion Award, announced in Washington, DC by Agriculture Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services Nancy Montanez Johner. The award recognizes exemplary service conducting outreach activities and assisting eligible clients to obtain nutrition benefits in the Food Stamp Program, now known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP.

To expand and strengthen our partnerships with community and faith-based organizations, school districts, health clinics, and other public agencies that are dedicated to improving access to health coverage and the overall well-being of children and families in Monterey County.

What MC-CHOICE can do for you!

Outreach workers will help families to:

• Enroll children in Healthy Families/Medi-Cal programs.
• Retain their Healthy Families/Medi-Cal benefits.
• Assist families to complete annual Healthy Families/Medi-Cal renewals.
• Refer familes to other local agencies for services.
• Assist families to obtain documents needed to apply for Healthy Families/Medi-Cal programs.
• Access preventive health-care services for their children.
